Smash Media — Where the Entertainment Industry Connects.
How NetClubbed engineered a high-performance collaboration platform for media professionals — writers, producers, directors, and talent connecting to pitch ideas, join events, and close deals in the entertainment industry.
The Entertainment Industry Runs on Relationships — but Had No Single Place to Build Them.
The media and entertainment world is deeply relationship-driven — every production is a collaboration between writers, producers, directors, editors, and talent. Yet these professionals discovered each other through informal networks, events, and word of mouth, with no central platform to pitch ideas, find collaborators, or join industry events efficiently.
Smash Media needed to serve multiple distinct professional roles simultaneously — each with their own profile type, content, collaboration workflows, and deal-making needs — all under one roof. The challenge was building a platform that felt tailored for each role while keeping the community unified and the experience high-performance.
NetClubbed's full-stack and DevOps team architected Smash Media from the ground up — React/Next.js SSR frontend, Node.js/Hapi.js API layer, AWS Lambda serverless functions, Terraform infrastructure-as-code, Okta Auth0 for multi-role identity, MongoDB for flexible professional data, and Elasticsearch for intelligent people and project discovery. Delivered in 1.5 years, on time and to full client satisfaction.
What We Built.
A multi-role creative industry platform — every feature designed to serve writers, producers, directors, and talent with equal depth and specificity.
Multi-Role Professional Profiles
Role-specific profile builders for writers (scripts, credits), producers (productions, slate), directors (reels, filmography), and talent — each optimised for the specific portfolio and credibility signals that matter in that role.
Industry Events Engine
Create, discover, and RSVP to industry events — screenings, pitch sessions, networking nights, and workshops. Real-time attendance tracking, event-specific discussion boards, and post-event connection recommendations powered by Elasticsearch.
Project Collaboration Rooms
Secure project workspaces where producers, writers, and directors co-develop productions — shared briefs, script versions, production notes, and role-based access so only the right people see the right material at the right stage.
Talent & Project Discovery
Elasticsearch-powered discovery across the full professional network — search by role, genre, credits, availability, or location. Producers find the right writer for a specific project. Directors discover up-and-coming talent before anyone else.
Deal-Making & Pitch Flows
Structured pitch and deal workflows — writers pitch scripts to producers, directors pitch vision boards to studios. Each pitch flow is tracked, version-controlled, and produces a auditable deal history that protects all parties involved.
Serverless Infrastructure (IaC)
Entire AWS infrastructure provisioned via Terraform — Lambda for event processing, S3 for media asset storage, CloudFront for global content delivery, and API Gateway — all deployed as code with CI/CD pipelines and zero-downtime releases.

How We Did It.
An 18-month build — role-first design, every creative professional's workflow considered.
Discovery & Role Mapping
Months 1–2 — Deep-dive into each professional role's unique workflows, data needs, and collaboration patterns. System architecture design, AWS infrastructure planning, data modelling, API contracts, and multi-role Auth0 strategy defined.
UI/UX Design
Months 2–4 — Separate Figma design systems for each professional role — writers, producers, directors, and talent all get purpose-built dashboards. Events, discovery feeds, project rooms, and pitch flows all designed and approved.
Backend & Infrastructure
Months 3–8 — Node.js/Hapi.js APIs for all role types, MongoDB schema design, Elasticsearch indices for people and project search, Auth0 multi-role RBAC, AWS Lambda event pipelines, S3 media storage, and Terraform IaC for all environments.
Frontend Development
Months 6–13 — React/Next.js frontend developed in parallel with the API — role-specific dashboards, the events engine, discovery feeds, project collaboration rooms, and pitch flow UIs — all SSR-optimised for performance.
QA, Launch & Handover
Months 14–18 — Cross-role end-to-end testing, security audit, load and performance testing under concurrent user scenarios, production deployment via CI/CD, CloudWatch monitoring, and full technical documentation handover.
